About the Comparative Study
Part of the IB Art course requirements is to complete a comparative study, this entails using 3 art pieces that have influence our own artworks and comparing and contrasting them to each other. Throughout the study I discuss the historical and societal context of each piece, their purpose, their audience, and the formal elements that make up the piece. After analyzing them individually, I evaluate their similarities and differences.
The study allowed for a deeper understanding of how artists use elements to convey their message while actively engaging with their environment and audience. This also opened up the discussion of how I was influenced by their works and used similar techniques in my own pieces.
